However, she fears when he discovers the truth about their daughter, he will never forgive her. As they work together, Mitch once again falls in love with Abby, but this time he refuses to let her walk out of his life. Can they rekindle the love that burned between them and uncover the identity of the arsonist before he turns their dreams and the town to ashes?
How do you cope when you realize the decision you made a few years ago was wrong? Is it too late to mend the past?
The town has an arsonist and the Fire Department is unable to get an accurate description. They call in expert sketch artist Abby Denton to assist them. Mitch Chambers, Chief Fire Officer, believes he can cope with seeing Abby again, but the sight of her and her two year old daughter pulls at his heartstrings.
A few years back Abby ran out on Mitch and he’s never forgiven her. Abby made a decision not to involve Mitch in her problems, but now she wishes she could go back in time and change her mind.
I found Abby to be a strong person. A single mom of a toddler, she manages to be successful in her chosen career and provide her daughter with a secure and loving home. She copes with everything life throws at her, not always successfully but she faces things head on. When danger confronts her she uses her head not her emotions.
Mitch came across as the strong silent type. I could imagine him as one of those firefighters they put on the calendars to raise funds for the Fire Department. Yum! His inner thoughts reveal who he really is. A man with his feelings in turmoil. Unable to forgive Abby for past hurts yet desperately fighting his attraction to her.
Although the nature of the conflict seems obvious from the beginning, the author threw in several twists and curves and I began to wonder if I’d got it right. I never could quite guess, and didn't find out until I'd read to the end of the book. Nearly to the last few chapters I thought I’d worked out all the answers, but then a completely new situation arose to throw me off the scent.
Rekindled Love is a contemporary romance with a captivating storyline. Abby’s little girl brings a lightness to offset the sometimes sombre air of the novel. Definitely not your normal run of the mill romance novel. On the whole a very good book and well worth reading.
